Our 21 Botanical and essential oils list

Salvia Sclaria [Clary Sage] o

Short-lived Clary Sage comes and goes in flash of colour and a drenching mist of aroma. Native to the northern Mediterranean basin, our oil is steam distilled from the flowering tops and leaf tips of this gentle herb. Long known as a plant of medicinal power, clary is commonly used to help reduce skin inflammation and work towards the normal regulation of natural skin oils.

Rosemarinus Officianalis [Rosemary] o

Our aromatic oil is distilled from the needles and branches of young flowering stems.  Fresh and lively scents alert us to the powerful vitamin and mineral content of this oil which contains calcium, iron and vitamin B. For thousands of years rosemary has been associated with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, which can help to fight free radicals and restore natural balance to the skin.

Mentha Piperita [Peppermint]

Nestling alongside stream beds in Europe or worldwide in plantations, the vibrant peppermint bursts with flavour, colour and vitality. It's shoots grow wildly and just as the flowers begin to show, our growers pick, steam and press the buds to release fresh oil.  Peppermint oil has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antimicrobial properties. We love peppermint oil as it helps reduce itching and has stunning aroma.

Lavendula Angustifolia [Lavender] o

Thriving in temperate climes, since Roman times lavender has been used to bathe in due to its antimicrobial and antioxidant characteristics. When steamed, the delicate flowers yield pale yellow oil droplets which our growers capture and store for our balms. It's sweet smelling rich oil is simply sublime, and is the signature of our skin balm and skin oils.

Citrus Aurantifolia [Lime] o

Aromatic, fresh and energising, our lime essential oil comes from either cold compression of fresh lime peel or through gentle steam distillation of its dried peels. Famous in folklore for it's purifying properties, we love lime because of its astringent, antiseptic and restorative properties.

Cedrus Atlantica [Cedarwood] o

Native to the Atlas mountains of Algeria and the Tell Atlas in Algeria, this deep, rich coniferous evergreen yields deep, sumptuous bark. Our essential oils are steam distilled from hand harvested pics, creating a natural antiseptic cedarwood oil which can prevent the development and growth of harmful microorganisms that can negatively affect our skin and its health.

Cupressus Sempervirens [Cypress]

The small, rounded, woody cones of youthful evergreen Cypress trees are decorated in summer with delightful tiny flowers. From the leaves and twigs we distill Cypress oils, known as a natural antibacterial oil which helps to naturally stimulate the nervous system, remove toxins and tighten skin because of its astringent properties.

Citrus Limon [Lemon] o

Expressed from the peel, lemon oil’s properties have been used to naturally treat skin for nearly 1,000 years due to its detoxifying, antiseptic and astringent properties. Recently studies have shown that it's a naturally occurring antimicrobial and antioxidant, on top of its vibrant aroma and essence.

Citrus Aurantium [Pettigrain] o

Bitter, Seville, Sour or Marmalade - the oranges from these citrus trees burst with juice and yield rich, deep peel. We procure steam distilled oils made from mid-season flowers and leaves. These oils have long been used for their skin boosting benefits.

Citrus Bergamia Leaf oil [Bergamot]

A name originally derived from 'bey armut' - the Turkish for Prince of Pears - Citrus Bergamia is harvested from a small orange citrus tree which blossoms during the winter. The juice from the fruit is more bitter than a grapefruit but sweeter than a lemon. Yet is it the leaves that we are interested in. Nestled on the Ionian coast of Reggio di Calabria, Italy, leaves are steam distilled to gift bergamot oil. Offering soothing, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, it is ideal for skin clarity and health.

Juniperus communis [Juniper berry]  o

From the far east to the wild west, you are never far from the grand common juniper. The coniferous evergreen shrub oft lies prostrate along the ground, hiding it's purple-black berries from elements enjoying the exposed moors and coast lines.  Juniper berries have been used through the ages to naturally treat skin irritations, and we include them in our products to provide astringency and aroma.

It has a natural ability to balance our sebum secretion, providing a common answer to opposing problems - dry and oily skin. It also has great antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Our pick is the roseum, offering almost magical aromatic scents. Style, and substance for your skin.

Aloe barbadensis (Organic leaf) Aloe vera o

The new millennium saw an explosion in Aloe that the Chinese have known about since before the beginning of the last. Aloe vera, a generously juicy succulent, is a soothing cooling moisturiser for the skin. It's light, fresh cucumber scent lingers lightly, providing a wrap around of gentle decadence for your skin.

Boswellia carterii [Frankincense] o

Frankincense, native to the Arabian peninsula, sheds it's bark a bit like we do our skin. Paper-thin sheaths come free throughout the year, as the tree grows and seasons change. On steep slopes, buttress roots reach like fingers into rock, exposing more tree surface to the air. Steam distilled from bark resin, Frankincense, has the ability to strengthen skin and improve tone and elasticity.
